The Talisman Series is an exciting fresh start for older pupils who need to learn the Phonic Code. The series of 10 books introduces the vowel sounds and their alternative spellings. Original, striking and motivating illustrations and stories will appeal to struggling or reluctant readers. The purpose of this series is to fill the missing gaps in phonic skills and knowledge that are preventing pupils from making progress and becoming fluent readers. Exciting, age-appropriate stories and illustrations invite the reader to join in an active-paced quest or mission which is combined with step-by-step phonics teaching. The phonic progression of the series is based on the Sounds-Write Reading and Spelling programme.
The Talisman 1 series and workbooks are designed for pupils who need to learn the alternative spellings for vowel sounds. This series overlaps with the Totem and Alba series and offers more spellings for vowel sounds and continue introducing spellings for new vowel sounds.
With a reading practice page, vocabulary page and multisyllable words split for the reader, these highly-decodable books ensure reading success. Each title has 16 pages in full colour.
